One of the major events on the LIONS OF BROOME calendar is the annual MANGO FESTIVAL. Held over the last full weekend in November this event runs from Thursday to Sunday. It starts off with a Quiz Night which is run entirely by the ladies of the Broome Lioness Club. This is always a good night of fun and it generates a healthy sum of money which is then donated to causes chosen by the Lionesses.

The 2009 Festival included a children's Art Exhibition with entrants from the various schools in the district. This event was sponsored jointly by the Shire of Broome and The Lions Club and was held in the local Broome Library on the Friday morning. Unfortunately there are no reports nor photos of the best entries available . However the children are all to be congratulated on their enthusiasm and talent.

On Friday evening a Mango Jamming session took place in the Goolarri Media Courtyard. A very happy crowd went along to listen to a variety of music from local performers and solo artists. The evening was put on by Goolarri Media and all funds raised were for the benefit of the newly created Local Disabled Group. This group is headed up by Stephen "Baamba" Albert who has made it his mission to have a remedial spa complete with a lifting device and hopefully a resident qualified therapist to help amputees to cope with their disabilities. The night was a great success thanks in no small way to the expertise of compere George Manning the well known Perth Radio identity who came up for the duration of the festival.

Saturday heralded the Mango Cakes, Jams and Chutneys exhibition at the Boulevard Shopping Centre. There were several entrants in each of the three categories and the public was invited along to sample the delicious home made delicacies!  Each of the category winners received a $100 Woolworth's shopping voucher
